The airport, FAA identifier C08, is the easiest and safest way to access the Rocky Mountains by air. Located 9 miles southeast of Westcliffe. The airfield sits at an elevation of 8,290 feet MSL and is just under 7,000′ long by 55′ wide. The runway was recently resurfaced, and runway markings repainted. A recent addition includes an 8′ high wildlife fencing project around the perimeter of the airfield. There is abundant wildlife in the area, and you should be on the lookout for mule deer, antelope, elk and coyotes. There is no airfield lighting. Currently there are no instrument approaches servicing the airport.
C08 has 100LL self-serve fuel available as well as Jet A. There are no ramp fees or tie down fees. The airfield and ramp can accommodate general aviation aircraft and corporate jets up to the size and weight of a Falcon 900.
The airfield has an AWOS broadcast on 119.275 (accessible by phone on (719-783-3544). Additionally, the airfield sky conditions can be surveyed in real time via the state-of-the-art FAA Weather Cam system (weathercams.faa.gov). In the search field, type in SilverWest Airport, CO (C08) and you will be able to see real time sky conditions in four different quadrants.

SilverWest Airport lays 8 nm southeast of Westcliffe in the middle of a 20 mile wide valley that is bordered on the east by the Wet Mountains, with peaks approaching 12,000 feet, and on the west by the spectacular Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the longest and straightest mountain range on earth. The Sangres’ string of 13,000 and 14,000 foot snow-capped peaks tower over the 7,800 foot valley below.
SilverWest Airport is easily approached from nearly any direction with the lowest terrain to the northwest and southeast. For those pilots approaching from the west, Mosca Pass, just 18 nm south, offers a 9,740 foot doorway through the Sangres into the beautiful Wet Mountain Valley. Airport elevation is 8,290 feet MSL and CTAF is 122.9. Our newly resurfaced runway is 54 feet wide and 7,000 feet long. 100LL fuel is available.
